Dr. xxxxx was my mentor in graduate school and continues to be a mentor when I need her.  Dr. xxx is part of the reason I made the big step to enroll in the Post Master Mental Health program.  I spent months going back and forth with my decision to go back to school and talking to Dr. xxx for countless hours about my passion and desire to help others. Academic advising for me promotes student engagement by initially and continuously serving as this point of connection. Not only will she keep me engaged, she will encourage my involvement and help me to identify personal strengths and interests related to my education and career goals. Through this two-way relationship between student and advisor, students will know how and where to access accurate information about resources, policies, procedures and requirements- while receiving invaluable individualized guidance to help them along their educational journey (Jackson, 2018).
